Benefits of therapy…
Reduce Anxiety: Develop skills to reduce feelings of anxiety and manage stress.
Heal from Traumatic Experiences: Therapy provides a safe, compassionate space to make sense of what happened, reduce its emotional impact, and move from surviving to thriving.
Increase Coping Skills: Therapy will help you improve your ability to face challenges and respond to life with greater resilience.
Build Self-Confidence: Build your self-confidence so you can reduce self-doubt and strengthen your trust in yourself.
Improve Relationships: Therapy can help you identify patterns in relationships that leave you feeling hurt or confused. You can learn new ways to improve communication and build relationships where you feel supported and cared for.
My Style…
Trauma-informed, non-judgmental, client-centered, and strengths-based.
Creates a space that is compassionate and affirming, where you can show up fully as yourself and be met with understanding and support.
Respects your lived experience and the context in which it was shaped – including relationships, culture, and systemic influences.
My Therapeutic Approach…
Since each person’s experiences are unique, I use interventions in a way that is responsive to each client’s needs.
I draw from the following approaches to help you better understand yourself, develop effective coping strategies and process what you’ve been through.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you build a different relationship with your thoughts and emotions. Instead of getting stuck in them or trying to push them away, you can learn to make space for your internal experiences while moving toward what matters most to you.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)/Parts Work
We all have different “parts” of ourselves. These parts may show up in many ways, such as anxiety, being self-critical, or self-doubting. IFS helps you understand and connect with these parts in a compassionate way to promote healing, balance, and greater inner peace.
Somatic Healing
Trauma and stress are not just held in our mind – they also live in our body. Somatic work can help you tune into physical sensations, build nervous system awareness, and release patterns of tension so you can feel more grounded and safer in your body.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
MBCT combines mindfulness practices with cognitive strategies to help you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them. This can be especially helpful for anxiety, rumination, and emotional reactivity.
Empowerment Self-Defense (ESD)
In addition to traditional therapies, I sometimes incorporate concepts of Empowerment Self-Defense. This work focuses on helping you connect with your voice, set boundaries, and feel more confident in your ability to protect yourself physically, emotionally, and in your relationships.
Fees
I offer a free 15-minute consultation for new clients. This is an opportunity for us to briefly discuss your needs and goals and to answer questions you may have about starting therapy. If we decide that we are a good fit, we will schedule an intake.
The fee for an initial intake is $175, and ongoing sessions are $150.
I am in-network with BCBS of Illinois PPO, United Health Care, and Aetna. I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to other insurances for out-of-network reimbursement.
I accept private pay.
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients who are uninsured or who cannot afford services. I also partner with Open Path Psychotherapy Collective to provide sliding scale therapy.
